Revision for exams can be an anxious time
And the same concerns apply whatever your age!
So here are some tips for StressBusting™ the exercise and hopefully maximising your chances of success🤞:-
● Firstly, consult and appraise yourself of the techniques explained in our post entitled "StressBusting™ presentation, interview & public speaking" to calm nerves ahead of the examinations, so you can then relax into the revision process itself
● Have a list or schedule of daily tasks that are measurable and achievable; then stick to them to avoid having to cram at the last minute!
● Engage the internet to plug gaps in your knowledge as appropriate and guided by tutors - see "Embrace Technology to Stressbust™"
● Talk about what you are learning with volunteers close to you in order to practice your knowledge and encourage them to question you on the topics - see "Extend your Vocabulary to Stressbust™"
● If and when learning online, bear in mind that "The internet has actually shortened our memories (apparently)", so practice actually writing down what you have learned, in bullet points as a means of reminder at least, rather than assuming you will store a large volume in your memory alone
● Stage the revision so you do not peak too early or suffer burn out - see our post entitled "Know the shape of your personal fuel tank" for further tips in this respect
● Exercise to keep fresh, and remember that "A Smart Watch is no substitute for a "Smart Approach"" - so a gentle walk in nature during which you recite to yourself what you have learned might help, or alternatively embrace "The Value of Morning "Stretchbusting™"" to start your day in a positive physical and mental state of mind
● Learn to question your research and "Never assume your 1st search engine result will give you the information you are looking for!", as you sometimes have to delve a little deeper
● See our post entitled "The Power of Visuals to StressBusting™", which explains how drawing out a concept, idea or knowledge in visual form on a sheet of paper can increase retention of the information contained in it by 400% over writing it down alone; so why not try this out wherever appropriate to see if it works for you
● And finally, be absolutely sure to follow tutors instructions as closely as possible, as they will know best how to approach and succeed in a process they have been through many times before - see, for example, our post entitled "Leverage the Stressbusting™ Wisdom of Age"!
