Good quality sleep, and equally consistent sleep patterns, may not be the most glamorous of subjects, but they are imperative to keeping stress levels manageable.
So bed comfort and suitability are paramount considerations .
Not only science but basic common sense dictates this.
At the end of the day, we spend on average 33% of our lives in bed. That is roughly 15% more time than we spend sitting on a sofa. Yet while we often baulk at investing in a high quality bed, we don't hesitate to order a top of the range sofa because it is a focal point of our living area!
But getting more quality and regular sleep, and establishing a consistent sleep routine, reduces stress greatly by allowing our bodies to recover and recharge, which lowers cortisol levels, the stress hormone.
Quality sleep also enhances emotional resilience and cognitive function, helping us better cope with stressors.
It also promotes a sense of well-being and relaxation, reducing physical and psychological impact of stress on our body and mind.
Friends of ours joke that they have a perfect relationship because they have separate beds - hers is in London and his is in New York!
We don't quite subscribe to the value merits of this level of continental separation 😆, but being sleepers who nevertheless enjoy our space and object to feeling cramped, we took the plunge and invested in a top of the range king-size bed.
The results have been amazing.
We have more energy and look forward to bed time far more than we did below, making going to bed less of a necessary evil than it was.
And even if you buy something like this on credit, you have to build into the cost of credit a more comfortable, healthy stress free life, which to be honest is priceless......
