Nothing is worse than your wi-fi going off when you need it most.

And Christmas Holidays definitely count as one of those occasions!

So here is a mega quick checklist of factors that could be causing the problem:-

1. Router Placement: Position your Wi-Fi router in a central location within your home, away from walls and obstructions. This helps ensure a more even distribution of the Wi-Fi signal, reducing the likelihood of dead zones.

2. Update Firmware: Regularly update your router's firmware to benefit from performance improvements and security updates. Check the manufacturer's website or the router settings for the latest firmware version.

3. Password Security: Set a strong password for your Wi-Fi network to prevent unauthorized access. This not only protects your network but also ensures that only authorized devices are connected, reducing the chances of congestion.

4. Channel Selection: Use a less congested Wi-Fi channel. Most routers default to automatic channel selection, but manually selecting a channel with less interference from neighboring networks can enhance your Wi-Fi stability.

5. Limit Connected Devices: Avoid overloading your Wi-Fi network by limiting the number of connected devices. Disconnect devices that are not in use or consider investing in a dual-band router to separate high-bandwidth devices from those with lower bandwidth requirements.

An extra tip for those such as us with small children in the house is to check that the little mischief monsters haven't taken it upon themselves to switch the wi-fi off at the mains!

If all else fails, use what has been reported as a time honoured Naval technique for technology and do exactly that youself - switch off at the mains entirely, give it a few minutes and then switch back on.

And if the problem is with your service provider (such as repair work on its system) then make the most of some well earned (and possibly overdue!) screen free time to enjoy good conversation, perhaps some board games or if possible a little exercise in the fresh Winter air!

We wish users Happy, Responsible Surfing over the Christmas Period! 🤓😎🧐🥳
